Monday, October 23:

  • K-12 Blended and Online Learning Research Community Meeting: On Monday, October 23, iNACOL will host a day-long pre-conference workshop for stakeholders to come together to discuss and network around K-12 Blended and Online Learning. We at Mawi Learning know that blended and online learning initiatives are a huge undertaking, so we love that this meeting offers collaboration, support, and insights for how to move forward!

Tuesday, October 24:

  • Tip #1: Attend the first time breakfast orientation on Day 1 at 7 am. If you’re new to iNACOL (and even if you’ve attended before), we highly recommend stopping the orientation breakfast. It will help you learn how to navigate this large Symposium and allow you to make connections immediately!

  • Opening Keynote Address: Personalized, Learner-Centered Innovations to Transform Lives and Communities: We are so excited to see not just one but THREE keynote speakers on the opening day. Kara Bobroff, Bror Saxberg, and Diane Tavenner will be sharing personal stories of their journeys to personalized learning in addition to some of the latest research on learning sciences. It should be fascinating and inspiring!

  • Introducing Your School or District To Blended Learning: One thing we hear sometimes here at Mawi Learning is how difficult it can be to propel a school or district to make the transformation from offline to blended learning. If you’re looking to learn about the different blended learning models and learn how it can provide a solution to your most vexing problems, this is the session for you!

  • Tip #2: Don’t forget to stop by Tuesday evening’s Networking Event: This event is a great opportunities to mingle with colleagues and make a new connection or three!

Here are some other sessions we’re looking forward to:

Wednesday, October 25:

  • Are Today’s Middle and High School Students Really Ready for College, Work and Life? This is a session we at Mawi Learning are really looking forward to, as we work to ensure that ALL students are prepared not just for grades and extracurriculars, but also for life after graduation.

  • Tip #3: Attend Wednesday’s Luncheon Keynote Student Panel: It’s critical to understand students’ unique perspectives about their learning systems. This panel provides a great opportunity to hear from students themselves about their engagement and experience with next generation learning in action.

  • Hacking to Help English Language Learner Students: This session will help illuminate the types of policies, curriculum supports, instruction, and school structures that can address the needs of ELL students. We work with so many schools to support ELL students, so we’ll be watching this one closely!

  • 50 Ways to Assess Social Emotional Learning: 50 ideas to establish milestones, set goals, and develop student agency? We can’t wait!

Here are some other highlights:

One last tip: Stop by Mawi Learning’s Booth 304 for some games and goodies!

We saved the best tip for last! We’ll be playing Growth Mindset golf, and giving away some awesome sweets and treats to all our visitors.

Oh, and we have to mention the best part: Stop by and tell us about yourself and your school, and you will be entered to win a grand prize of a class set of 10 Chromebooks! We love supporting blended learning in any way possible-- what better way than to provide access through laptops?
